Export Head, Bevibes — Mithila makhana sourcing & documentation
Vivek handles buyer enquiries end to end: grade selection, sampling, phytosanitary and APEDA paperwork, container planning and the sailing schedule. You deal with one person from first quote to bill of lading — no ticket queues, no handovers.
Three fields is all we ask up front. Everything else is handled in the reply.
Every enquiry is answered within one business day, Monday to Saturday, IST.
Pricing arrives with a spec sheet, lab report and packing chart — not just a number.
Freight, transit time and compliance are quoted for your destination port.
No minimum commitment to get pricing or samples, and we never share your details.
“The specification we agreed at PO stage is the specification that arrived. Moisture and broken percentage were within tolerance on all three containers.”
“Artwork, barcodes and EU-compliant labelling were handled without us chasing. Our private label range went live one season earlier than planned.”
“Documentation is the part most Indian suppliers get wrong. Phytosanitary, origin and health certificates arrived ahead of the vessel every time.”
Short, direct answers to the questions we get most often from importers, distributors and brand owners.
Bevibes is the export brand of Bevive Retail Pvt. Ltd., an Indian company that supplies makhana (fox nuts) to importers, distributors, supermarket chains, snack manufacturers and private label brands around the world. We buy raw makhana directly from farming clusters in the Mithila belt of Bihar, process and grade it at our manufacturing plant in Darbhanga and contracted partner units, and ship it under our own quality and documentation protocol. Bevibes is the brand name buyers see on the packaging; Bevive Retail Pvt. Ltd. is the legal entity that signs the contract and appears on the export documents.
Because we behave like a manufacturer, not a middleman. You get the same grade in every container because lots are bought against a written specification and checked before packing, not sorted after complaints. You get complete export paperwork — invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate, lab report — prepared in-house rather than outsourced. And you get one point of contact who knows your market's labelling rules, so the shipment clears customs instead of sitting at the port.
India grows roughly 85-90% of the world's makhana, so there is no meaningful alternative origin at commercial scale. Buying from India means you are buying at source: better prices, larger volumes, full traceability back to the farming cluster, and access to organic and GI-tagged lots that simply do not exist elsewhere. India also has mature export infrastructure for food — APEDA registration, accredited labs, phytosanitary services and container ports at Nhava Sheva, Mundra and Kolkata — so the compliance side is routine rather than experimental.
Mithila, the region spanning Darbhanga, Madhubani, Purnia and Katihar in north Bihar, has the shallow warm ponds that fox nut cultivation needs, and generations of families who know how to temper and pop the seed by hand. Mithila Makhana holds a GI (Geographical Indication) tag, which is a legal origin protection much like Champagne or Darjeeling tea. In practical terms the region's seed pops larger, whiter and crisper, with fewer broken pieces and a cleaner taste — which is exactly what a retail pack or a snack line needs.
Bevive Retail Pvt. Ltd. (Bevibes) exports raw and roasted makhana (fox nuts) in bulk, retail-ready packs and private label formats, plus makhana-derived items such as flavoured snacks, powder and flour for food manufacturers.
A manufacturer-exporter: we process at our own plant in Darbhanga, in Bihar's makhana belt, with contracted partner units adding capacity under the same specification — which lets us control grade selection, moisture, roasting and packaging while scaling to container volumes.
Bulk export orders typically start at 500 kg for air shipments and one 20ft container (approximately 6–8 MT of makhana depending on packing density) for sea freight. Private label programmes have separate MOQs per SKU.
We quote EXW, FOB Nhava Sheva/Kolkata and CIF to your destination port. Standard terms are 30% advance with balance against scanned documents, or an irrevocable LC at sight for repeat container programmes.
Send grade, quantity, packaging and destination port through the quote form and our export desk replies with pricing, specification sheet and lead time within 24–48 business hours.
