Container and air-freight supply of raw, roasted, flavoured and private label makhana for importers, distributors and retail buyers in Australia — with Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) and FSANZ for food standards documentation and destination-ready labelling handled before dispatch.
What clearance actually requires, who carries the obligation, and where first shipments go wrong.
Australia runs one of the strictest biosecurity regimes we ship into, and it applies to the packaging as much as the food. Import conditions are published through BICON against the specific commodity, wooden packaging must meet ISPM 15, and containers are screened for contamination — soil, seeds, insect material — that has nothing to do with the product itself. Imported food is then subject to inspection and testing under the imported food scheme, with referral rates depending on the food category and the importer's history.
FSANZ Food Standards Code applies across Australia and New Zealand, so one compliant artwork covers both markets — a genuine efficiency if you are entering the region. A Nutrition Information Panel in the prescribed per-serve and per-100 g format is mandatory, allergen declaration follows the Code's plain-English requirements, and country-of-origin labelling requires a clear statement of origin for imported food.
HS 0802.99 for plain and roasted, 2008.19 for seasoned retail product. The Australia–India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement has reduced or eliminated duty on a range of Indian-origin lines; whether your specific tariff item benefits, and what origin documentation is required to claim it, is worth checking with your broker because the saving can be material.
None of this is advice you should act on without your own customs broker confirming the item-level position — tariff treatment changes, and it changes by classification rather than by product name. What we guarantee is the documentation: invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate, health certificate and accredited lab analysis, prepared in-house and couriered ahead of arrival.

Plain 4–5 Suta at volume into Sydney and Melbourne.
Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane take the bulk of east-coast volume; Fremantle serves Western Australia and is usually a separate service rather than a coastal leg. Direct services from Nhava Sheva avoid transhipment delay, which matters given how tightly biosecurity inspection is scheduled on arrival.
Southern-hemisphere seasons invert the northern pattern: the January–February period combines summer and new-year health buying, making Q1 the strongest window. Diwali adds a spring peak through South Asian retail in the major cities.

More often the packaging and container than the food. Wooden pallets must meet ISPM 15 with visible marking, and containers are inspected for soil, plant material and insect contamination. We load on compliant pallets, use food-grade liners and supply the packing declaration, which is what the inspector reads before deciding whether to open the container.
Largely yes. Both follow the FSANZ Food Standards Code, so the Nutrition Information Panel, allergen declaration and compositional requirements are shared. Check country-of-origin statements and any importer-address requirements separately, since those are set nationally.
The agreement has cut duty on a wide range of Indian-origin goods, and for qualifying tariff items the saving is worth claiming. It depends on the exact classification and on presenting valid origin documentation, which we issue. Confirm the item-level outcome with your customs broker before you build it into a price.
500 kg for a single grade by air, or one container load by sea — around 6–8 MT in a 20ft container and 14–16 MT in a 40ft high cube, since makhana cubes out before it weighs out. Private label runs are set by the printed-film minimum, currently 1,000–5,000 units per SKU depending on pack format.
Samples reach you in 3–5 working days. On a confirmed order, production runs 10–15 days, then 18–24 days by sea; 3–5 days by air Add clearance and inland movement at your end.

Short, direct answers to the questions we get most often from importers, distributors and brand owners.
Most orders move by sea in FCL containers from Nhava Sheva, Mundra or Kolkata; urgent or sample volumes go by air from Delhi or Mumbai. We work on FOB, CFR, CIF and DDP terms, whichever suits your freight arrangement. Because makhana is low density, we plan the load by volume so you are not paying for half-empty containers, and we can consolidate multiple grades or SKUs into a single container.
Bevive Retail Pvt. Ltd. holds an Importer Exporter Code (IEC), an FSSAI licence, APEDA registration, GST registration and Startup India recognition. Processing runs at our Darbhanga plant and contracted partner units operating ISO 22000 / HACCP food safety systems, and organic lots are supplied against NPOP and NOP certification. For each shipment we provide a certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate and a third-party lab report covering moisture, aflatoxin, pesticide residue and microbiological limits. Buyer-appointed inspection agencies such as SGS or Bureau Veritas are welcome at any stage.
For loose bulk makhana the practical minimum is 500 kg for air freight and one container load for sea freight — around 6–8 MT in a 20ft container and 14–16 MT in a 40ft high cube, since makhana is very light and cubes out before it weighs out. For private label retail packs the MOQ is 1,000–5,000 units per SKU depending on pack format, driven by the printed-film minimum rather than by us. First-time buyers can start with a smaller trial shipment while a relationship is being established.
