Consistency
Repeat-order risk
A supplier who controls processing can hold a written grade spec across containers. One who buys finished lots inherits whatever the market graded that week.
Buyer diligence
It decides whether your third container matches your first. Here is what each supply model actually means in makhana, where Bevibes honestly sits, and the documents that verify any supplier's claim — including ours.
Makhana is graded by hand and ruined by moisture. Whoever controls processing controls your outcome.
Consistency
A supplier who controls processing can hold a written grade spec across containers. One who buys finished lots inherits whatever the market graded that week.
Price
Pure traders add a margin on top of processor pricing. Processing control removes a layer — but claimed 'factory prices' from a listing-site middleman usually are not.
Recourse
If moisture or broken percentage fails at destination, a supplier with processing control can trace the lot and answer for it. A reseller can only argue with their own supplier.
Model 1
Owns popping and grading units near the pond clusters. Deepest process control, but most are small, domestic-focused operations without export documentation capability or container-scale logistics.
Model 2
Buys graded lots from mandis or processors and resells. Fast and flexible with low MOQs, but grade consistency and traceability depend entirely on that week's sourcing.
Model 3
Runs its own plant, extends capacity through contracted units on the same written specification, and handles export compliance in-house. Combines the manufacturer's process control with export-grade documentation and scale.
Bevive Retail Pvt. Ltd. is a manufacturer-exporter: our own plant in Darbhanga, extended by contracted partner units — and we would rather define that precisely than borrow a label.
What we are
Lots are bought against a written specification from farming clusters in Darbhanga, Madhubani and Purnia, processed at our Darbhanga plant and contracted partner units operating ISO 22000 / HACCP food safety systems with our QC present, and shipped with documentation prepared in-house.
What we are not
We do not own the pond clusters — sourcing is contracted with farmer groups — and we are not a marketplace reseller forwarding whatever is available. Control comes from the plant, the specification and lot testing, and every claim is verifiable in documents before you pay.
| What matters to you | Pure manufacturer | Pure trader | Bevibes (plant + partner units) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grade consistency | High, if export-aware | Varies lot to lot | High — written spec, checked before packing |
| Export documentation | Often limited | Varies | Prepared in-house for every shipment |
| Traceability | To own unit | Usually stops at the mandi | To the farming cluster and processing lot |
| MOQ flexibility | Rigid | Most flexible | 500 kg air / container-load sea |
| Third-party audit access | Sometimes | Rarely meaningful | Welcome at unit and loading |
A sales-office licence is not a processing licence. Match the address on the certificate to where the makhana is actually popped and packed.
Grade, moisture, broken percentage and packing agreed in writing before payment. A supplier who resists a written spec cannot hold one.
NABL-accredited certificates covering moisture, aflatoxin, pesticide residue and microbiology — for your lot, not a generic sample from last season.
Ask to visit the unit or appoint SGS or Bureau Veritas for pre-shipment inspection. The reaction to this request tells you most of what you need to know.
IEC and APEDA registration numbers can be checked against government databases, and shipment records surface on trade data platforms.
Our own manufacturing plant at the New Industrial Estate, Sundarpur, Darbhanga, with contracted partner units across the Mithila belt adding capacity — all running one written specification with our QC presence on the floor. We do not own the pond clusters; sourcing is contracted with farmer groups, and every processing claim is verifiable in documents before you pay.
Not always — a disciplined trader with strong QC can outperform a careless manufacturer. The risk is structural: a pure trader who buys graded lots on the open market cannot guarantee the next container matches the last one, because they do not control how the lot was processed. Whatever supplier you choose, the question to resolve is who controls the specification, not what the company calls itself.
Ask for the FSSAI licence of the processing unit (not just the sales office), the unit's food safety certificate, lot-level lab reports from an NABL-accredited laboratory, and a signed specification sheet that states grade, moisture and broken percentage before you pay. A supplier with real processing control produces these in days; a listing-site middleman usually cannot.
Yes. Buyer audits and third-party inspections (SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek) are welcome at the contracted units at any stage, including pre-shipment inspection and container loading supervision. We treat audit access as a feature of the model, not a concession.
Short, direct answers to the questions we get most often from importers, distributors and brand owners.
Bevibes is the export brand of Bevive Retail Pvt. Ltd., an Indian company that supplies makhana (fox nuts) to importers, distributors, supermarket chains, snack manufacturers and private label brands around the world. We buy raw makhana directly from farming clusters in the Mithila belt of Bihar, process and grade it at our manufacturing plant in Darbhanga and contracted partner units, and ship it under our own quality and documentation protocol. Bevibes is the brand name buyers see on the packaging; Bevive Retail Pvt. Ltd. is the legal entity that signs the contract and appears on the export documents.
Because we behave like a manufacturer, not a middleman. You get the same grade in every container because lots are bought against a written specification and checked before packing, not sorted after complaints. You get complete export paperwork — invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate, lab report — prepared in-house rather than outsourced. And you get one point of contact who knows your market's labelling rules, so the shipment clears customs instead of sitting at the port.
Bevive Retail Pvt. Ltd. holds an Importer Exporter Code (IEC), an FSSAI licence, APEDA registration, GST registration and Startup India recognition. Processing runs at our Darbhanga plant and contracted partner units operating ISO 22000 / HACCP food safety systems, and organic lots are supplied against NPOP and NOP certification. For each shipment we provide a certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate and a third-party lab report covering moisture, aflatoxin, pesticide residue and microbiological limits. Buyer-appointed inspection agencies such as SGS or Bureau Veritas are welcome at any stage.

The twelve questions every buyer asks.
Grades, HS codes, packing and documentation.
Put the model to the test.
Ask for the processing unit's certificates, our registrations and a lot-level lab report. We would rather win the order on documents than on adjectives.
